LOTRO stuffs lockboxes with more goods while nerfing legacy items
By Justin Olivetti March 20, 2024
It’s a minor patch day for Lord of the Rings Online — and a slightly unusual one at that.
Update 39.1 arrived on Wednesday with the expected fine-tuning of Update 39’s three new dungeons and The Depths of Mâkhda Khorbo raid. Along with this, Lore-masters have been forbidden from using their bears to taunt in anything greater than a three-person instance.
SSG also nerfed some legacy “catch up” items, as their bonuses were seen as too strong past their intended level.
However, the centerpiece of the patch has to do with the game’s always-controversial lockboxes. A new Silent Hunter set of cosmetics, pets, mounts, and housing items were added to these locked chests. It should be noted that they can also be purchased at the Figments of Splendour vendor (say that a few times fast) as an alternate way to obtain these looks.
